Lettery to Hillary Clinton

Hillary was in Bethlehem, Israel a few weeks ago. She has become quite a hawk in the last few months and the neocons are looking to her as a potential new host, as the current host is dying rapidly.

While Hillary was posing for photo ops someone took the trouble to write her a letter asking some important questions:

I was surprised last week when I saw your picture in Haaretz (November 15, 2005), which was taken near the Wall, just outside of our town. I know that many Palestinians would have loved to welcome you in their homes in Bethlehem, but you did not come to visit us. Perhaps you simply did not have time to stop by and greet us, the people who would be the other half of any agreement which would allow Israel to live in security and peace. Or perhaps while you had Bethlehem in the background of the publicity photos, you had certain of your constituents in New York in the forefront of your mind. In one month s time you will be singing O Little Town of Bethlehem. I wonder how you will sing it this year, having declared your support for transforming our little town into a big, open-air prison, leaving no green space for our children to play or our olive trees to grow?

The last time Hillary broke bread with Palestinians, she was used to legitimize Suha Arafat's incoherent screed about Israelis using poison gas on Palestinian children.

The last time her husband bent over backwards to help the Palestinians get a state, Yasser Arafat spit in his face and started the intifada.

The trip to the mideast is a photo-op. My guess is that the Clintons, with good reason, recognize that the Israelis wont humiliate or embarass them, while the Palestinians will.

If the Palestinians want more sympathy from U.S. officials, they'll need to clean up their own act rather than cue the violin music.

Bill and Hillary stood up to the Israeli lobby but were spit on by the Palestinians? The Palestinians are using "violin music" to get sympathetic treatment in our media?

What planet is this guy from?

It's not "sympathy" the Palestinians are after. It's their country that's been taken from them. And we all will be paying the price for that little landgrab for a long time.

"Bill and Hillary stood up to the Israeli lobby but were spit on by the Palestinians?"

Not exactly. The Clintons did not need to stand up to the "Israeli lobby" because the Israeli lobby supported the peace process. Of course, there were some elements that were against negotiations, but the Clinton's soldiered through it anyway, becuase it was the right thing to do.

If the Palestinians have their country taken from them, please tell me, up to 1948, who the Prime Minister of Palestine was? Who were its legislative representatives? Who were its Supreme Court judges? Can you send me a copy of the Palestinian constitution or other founding document? If it's an unwritten constitution, maybe you can send me the documents or laws that make up said constitution?

Because I come from planet earth, where none of those things existed. Perhaps in your alternate reality you can show them to us.
