Jewish Organizations Push for Action Against Iran

Here again we have a small group of people pushing for actions that will affect every American as well as much of the world.

Are the goals of these Jewish organizations in conflict with the interests of America as a whole? There are huge risks involved with this type of confrontation with Iran.

We have already lost many lives in Iraq and spent huge amounts of money. Many more Iraqis have been killed and we are installing what looks to be a theocracy. We have also damaged our standing in the world community.

It is also not unreasonable to wonder if the policies advocated by the neocons are, in the long run, actually in the interest of Israel. Certainly having an unstable Iraq as a neighbor will not bode well in the long term.

WASHINGTON —As Washington struggles to secure world support for slapping international sanctions on Iran over its alleged pursuit of nuclear weapons, Jewish organization are stepping up their efforts to trigger a crackdown on Tehran.

Pro-Israel activists in Washington are pressing Congress to tighten American sanctions on Iran. And last week, on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, Jewish communal leaders in New York urged world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, to act against Tehran.

This can only backfire on Jews as a whole, like the Iraq war has made Americans hated around the world, despite that many of us opposed it even before it began.

The saddest part are the anti-war Jews who will be tarred with the same brush as these groups. Israel (or rather the Likud and farther right parties) are the Jews' worst enemy. I will venture to guess that because of the government of Israel's actions there will be a backlash against Jews in general, which is horrid.

"there will be a backlash against Jews"

I wouldn't worry too much. Remember that our media still regards any connection between Israeli interests and the invasion of Iraq as "antisemitic". And it's only the small number of people who get their news from the internet who don't buy the official line that 9/11 was caused by people who "hate our freedom."

Control of the media is a pretty powerful tool in a society that seems to be happy just maximizing its entertainment intake.

I have worked in the media for more than 20 years. Yes, Jews do control it, on the other hand, there are many Jews who lead in terms of social and economic justice issues.

As an American, I would hate to be judged by either the acts of the Bushi ;-0 or the the Clintonians. It's time to stop generalizing and look at each other as human beings.

A lot of Jews do think they are "the Chosen" --just go to a synagogue--I was stunned when I heard the sermon-- they need to lose that attitude too.

And we don't need to facilitate it by allowing Israel to run roughshod over what is now accepted as humanitarian law, partially because Jews who survived WW II helped create it.

Israel has become a pariah state and should be ashamed as I'm sure many Israelis are.

But the Jews and their *Christian* Wrong supporters who are actively demonizing Muslims so that Israel can take control of possibly not just the Middle East but the world need to get their asses kicked pronto, before USReal launches a war against Iran.
