Of Course There Is an Israel Lobby

Interesting article on Israel and The Lobby.

The lobby's effectiveness at control was illustrated two years ago. Both government and media condemned China when it arrested, and accused of espionage, a Chinese citizen–Green Card holder visiting from the U.S. Neither the U.S. government nor media has ever protested—has never even mentioned—Israel's years-long multiple arrests and protracted detentions of American citizens, without charge or trial. In September 2000, CNN interviewed four Americans who had been tortured, the only report on this compelling story, and the network has since been forced to refuse selling recordings of that news segment, “Americans Mistreated in Israeli Jails.” America would have been fully informed had any other country committed these acts.

INN World Report had an interview with Ambassador Peck on Thursday. If you go to the site:

www.innworldreport.net

You can see it by clicking on the April 6 link on the left. The interviews come after the national and international headlines.

On Wednesday INN had Mary-Kay Wilmers, editor of the London Review of Books and publisher of "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" That's on the INN site on the April 5 th link on the left.

On Tuesday (or Monday, I forget) INN had on Mike Rivero of WhatReallyHappened.com, that's on either the April 4th or 3rd link on the left.

Personally, I watch INN on Dish TV Channel 9415, but if I miss a show I watch it on the web or listen to the podcast.

See this commentary on Israeli covert action in America by former CIA analyst and Al-Qa'ida expert Mike Scheuer:

As I embarked on this piece, I glanced at my bookshelves for inspiration. A title instantly leapt out: "The Lobby: Jewish Political Power and American Foreign Policy." In it, Edward Tivnan maintains that the pro-Israel lobby had silenced debate on Capitol Hill and had become an obstacle to peace in the Middle East. Sound familiar? Yet the book was published in 1987.

Plainly, Tivnan's arguments have changed nothing. Americans like Israel, come what may. I will bet that the very similar ones of Walt and Mearsheimer make little difference either.
